We want to personally welcome you to the Metropolitan A.M.E. Church website. God is doing marvelous things here at Metropolitan where we are “Expecting Great Things from God and Attempting Great Things for God.” We have faith that our prayers are being answered even when there is no visible evidence. And we are using our talents in service and commitment, for through faith, we know that our work is not in vain.

Our congregation is filled with disciples of Christ who are committed to stewardship and actively engaged in personal spiritual growth and in service to God and to community. Metropolitan has a rich history of worship and engagement in the Washington, DC community. Our church ministries, organizations and outreach have provided spiritual uplift and services for our congregation and to local and global communities.

You are always welcome to worship, participate, and fellowship at Metropolitan A.M.E. Church. Metropolitan is known as “The Cathedral of African Methodism" because it is shrouded in the unique history of the A.M.E. denomination. In this historic church, you are encouraged to feel at home. For in the house of God, there are truly no visitors; all persons are at home and are recognized as His children. It is hoped that your Metropolitan experience will be enriching, informative, and enjoyable. You are indeed welcome here.
